Grand Trunk Road in Lincoln Park, like its namesake, roots itself in connecting the diversity reflected in the people of Chicago with its modern cuisine.

The Road

Winding through the smoky, aromatic richness of South Asia for over two millennia, the Grand Trunk Road is one of Asia's oldest and longest major trading roads. Stretching from the toasty naan of Kabul in Afghanistan, continuing through Pakistan towards Peshawar’s succulent kebabs and karahi, then the chargha and chaat of Lahore, before crossing the fragrant spices and sublime biryanis of Northern India through Delhi, and finally terminating in the sumptuous seafood and flavorful curries of Chittagong, Bangladesh.

 Chef Behzad Khan

The culinary force behind GTR, Chef Behzad Khan hails from Karachi, Pakistan from a family that traces its origins to India and further back to Afghanistan. After graduating from the prestigious Culinary & Hospitality Institute of Chicago, Chef Khan spent years further honing his skills in some of the best restaurants in Chicago.

Grand Trunk Road restaurant is the realization of a lifelong dream - a window into Chef Khan’s own culinary journey - the destination to showcase his epicurean influences and to share the food that inspired him, traveling along the faraway Grand Trunk Road to our very own Chicago.
